Until the COVID-19 crisis, it's fair to say that farmers had a bit of a bashing. Liz Parkin is married to an ex-dairy farmer and recognises the challenges faced by local farming families to keep putting food on our table.

Promoting independent traders & food producers from within 30 miles of Nantwich, Cheshire

Liz Parkin lives in Nantwich, a floral market town in Cheshire and her first choice wherever possible is to buy gifts, clothes, home ware and food from the diverse range of local independent traders.

Trying to keep the household food-miles down, Liz tries to source as much as possible from local farmers and food producers, even dabbling in her own small veggie patch and two laying ducks called Doris and Daphne.

The podcast is featured on a Facebook group called Local not Global and on the whole, most contributors are within 30 miles of Nantwich.

Nantwich Buddies is a volunteer organisation set up at the start of the pandemic in March 2020. Formerly known as RedShift Radio, the online community radio station and podcast network closed during lockdown and Buddies ramped up their support of the community. Helping with shopping, befriending and supporting the mental health of Nantwich residents.
